How to remove popup.adv.net and mtn5.goole.ws

Normally I remove the trojans and malware very easily. But the problem I got it yesterday is whenever I visit a website which has google ads or any other ads a popup window opens linking to http://popup.adv.net/popup2.php and http://mtn5.goole.ws. So I finally downloaded the software Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and scanned my computer. It removed one entry in my registry and one exe . The below is the log file.

Registry Data Items Infected:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\System (Rootkit.DNSChanger.H) -> Data: kdapv.exe -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Files Infected:E:\WINDOWS\system32\kdapv.exe (Rootkit.DNSChanger.H) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Next day I opened my PC and still got the same problem and I shocked how come this malware comes from. As usual I googled and got the final solution from a website.

Here I am posting the method from this blog.

1. In the Windows menu go to Start>Run

2. Type cmd

3. This will fire up the command window

4. Type ipconfig /all

5. This will display the actual configuration of your LAN card.Pay particular attention to the DNS entry.

In my PC I got two entries:
192.168.1.100
85.255.112.15

One of this entries are not correctly formed while 85.255.112.156 is the DNS address of the exploiter. A proper DNS entry given by your ISP should look something like - 218.248.240.181. Type ipconfig /release

7. Then type ipconfig /renew

8. Then do an ipconfig /all again to check that your DNS settings have been corrected.

win16 subsystem may be unstable

We bought Acer Veriton PC with Window XP Professional pre-intalled in it. I tried to install an application named ACCPAC verion 5.1 which i used for our account. When I double click the setup.exe file nothing happens. As usual I pressed CTL+ALT+DEL and tried to view the tasks. I noticed two exe running named setup.exe and wowexec.exe. When I tried to end task the Wowexec.exe I got the error message saying

"The request to end the selected 16 bit task has timed out. The Win 16 Subsystem may be unstable. Press OK to terminate the Win 16 Subsystem or Cancel to leave it running."

No choice I clicked OK and searched for a solution in Google, MSN and yahoo. None of them worked. So finally I tried trial and error basis and finally got worked.

The solution is:

In ACER there is an application called Lanscope Agent is the culprit which gave this big problem. When you open the task you can see LockKM.exe. End task that task and now you can intall the win16 application. The path for that application is C:\Acer\LANScope Agent\LockKM.exe.

1. Close the e-mail program, Outlook or Outlook Express.

5. At the top of this box, click Content.

How can I gain access to a Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 computer if I forgot the administrator's password? How can I reset the administrator's password if I forgot it?
Ok, so you say you forgot your Windows administrator's password, huh? Oh well, it doesn't really matter if you did or you just say you did. The fact is that you need to gain access to a computer and you cannot "remember" the administrator's password.
How can you get out of this situation without formatting and re-installing the operating system?
One method of gaining access to the system is by trying hard to remember the forgotten password, or a password of another user which has the same level of administrative rights. However I don't think this approach will help you, otherwise you wouldn't be sitting here reading article, would you?)
Another method is by trying to restore a backed up System State (in Windows 2000/XP/2003) or a ERD (in NT 4.0) in which you do remember the password. The problem with doing so is that you'll probably lose all of the recently add users and groups, and all the changed passwords for all of your users since the last backup was made.
A third method might be to install a parallel operating system on a different partition on the same computer, then use a simple trick to gain access to the old system.

Note: If you are looking for password cracking tools that can be used for miscellaneous objectives such as password-protected PDF documents, zipped archives, Office documents, BIOS protection and so on then this pages is NOT for you. See some links at the bottom of this page for hints on where to find such tools, but I can tell you right away that Google might be a better choice for you.
The fourth option is by using 3rd party tools that will enable you to reset the lost password and logon with a blank password.

Free Windows password-cracking tools are usually Linux boot disks that have NT file system (NTFS) drivers and software that will read the registry and rewrite the password hashes for any account including the Administrators. This process requires physical access to the console and an available floppy drive but it works like a charm! I've done it myself several times with no glitch or problem whatsoever.
Beware!!! Resetting a user's or administrator's password on some systems (like Windows XP) might cause data loss, especially EFS-encrypted files and saved passwords from within Internet Explorer. To protect yourself against EFS-encrypted files loss you should always export your Private and Public key, along with the keys for the Recovery Agent user.

It works with encrypted files (EFS) and password hashes. Author claims it also works with Windows NT and Windows Server 2003 and Windows Longhorn, but the BEST thing about it is the fact that it won't reset your passwords, but simply reveal them for you to remember and then use.

This is a utility to (re)set the password of any user that has a valid (local) account on your Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista system, by modifying the encrypted password in the registry's SAM file.
You do not need to know the old password to set a new one.
It works offline, that is, you have to shutdown your computer and boot off a floppy disk or CD. The boot-disk includes stuff to access NTFS partitions and scripts to glue the whole thing together.
Works with syskey (no need to turn it off, but you can if you have lost the key)
Will detect and offer to unlock locked or disabled out user accounts!
Caution: If used on users that have EFS encrypted files, and the system is XP or later service packs on W2K, all encrypted files for that user will be UNREADABLE! and cannot be recovered unless you remember the old password again!

EBCD – Emergency Boot CD (v0.61 - October 2004)
EBCD is a bootable CD, intended for system recovery in the case of software or hardware faults. It is able to create backup copies of normally working system and restore system to saved state. It contains the best system software ever created, properly compiled and configured for the maximum efficient use.
EBCD will be very useful when you need to:
Copy/move files (with long names, not necessary in CP437 encoding) from/to the disk but OS which can handle them (windows, Linux...) cannot boot. In particular, you may create a backup copy of normally installed and configured Windows and later restore Windows from such backup copy. So, in the case of fault OS itself and all software and its settings can be restored in 5-10 minutes.
Perform emergency boot of Windows NT / 2000 / XP. When the loader of this OS on the hard disk is damaged or misconfigured, you are able to load OS using another, standalone loader from this CD.
Recover master boot record of HDD. This allows to boot OS after incorrect uninstallation of custom loader (LILO, for example), which made all OS on your PC not bootable.
Delete, move, copy to file (image) and re-create partition from file. Image transfer over network is also supported: so you may configure one PC and then make contents of hard disks of other PCs same as contents of the hard disk of the first one.
Change password of any user, including administrator of Windows NT/2000/XP OS. You do not need to know the old password.
Recover deleted file, even file re-deleted from Windows Recycle Bin, and, in contrast, wipe single file or a whole disk so that it will be impossible to recover it in any way.
Recover data from accidentally formatted disk. Sometimes it helps to recover data from the disk, damaged by a virus.
Recover data from a floppy disk, which is not readable by OS. Format 3.5" disk for 1.7 Mb size.
Also the disk includes full set of external DOS commands, console versions of the most popular archivers/compressors.
Moreover, emergency boot CD includes minimal Linux distribution (Rescue Linux distribution) which may be very useful to a professional user.

When I try to install an other antivirus program AVG, it encounters this problem

I am using Windows XP and suddenly I got the error

I tried all sort of solutions but cannot get rid of it. So I took a backup of my hard disk and planned to reformat it. I did fresh installion of XP in my Laptop. everything goes normal. After everything finished next day once again I got the same error and totally fed up. So I decided to run the chkdsk to check the hard disk. While running the chkdisk I saw the error saying

File record segment 13304 is unreadable

File record segment 13305 is unreadable

File record segment 13306 is unreadable

File record segment 13307 is unreadable

Then it fixed some files blah blah. Then I googled for this error and finally got the solution saying the hard disk is going to die :(. So no choice man need to change the hard disk and buy a new one.

Cannot add printer. Unable to spool in windows xp

Suddenly yesterday all the printers in my windows xp professional disappeared and when I tried to add the printer it prompts the error:

Cannot Add Printer. Unable to Spool.

As usual I tried to find out a soultion in search engine. A lot of people suggested different kind of solutions. But for me only one worked. First I checked the services whether Print Spooler service is running or not. No its not running. So I started it manually and made the startup type to automatic.

Then I went to c:\windows\system32\spool\Printers Folder and deleted all files. Hurrah Now I can able to see all printers and also can add printer.

Those who dono how to check the services. Please follow the steps:

1. Click Start Button and Click Run as shown below.

2. You can see the windows below.

3. Type services.msc and press ok.

4. Now you can see the services window.

Tips for choosing a domain name

Choosing a domain names may seem like a simple task, unfortunately it is not always a simple as you would like it to be. They are a few rules you can use to avoid some of the hassle and frustration of registering a domain name.
The first rule is better the devil you know. This relates to domain registrars, in my experience it is best to stick with a domain registrar that you know. You will avoid the uncertainty of a new registration process and keeping all of your domains under one roof is much more convenient. I would only suggest trying a new registrar if you have a good recommendation from someone you trust.
Keep it short and simple. The more characters your domain name has the more a potential visitor has to type which means there is a greater chance of mistyping. Although it is unlikely you will be able to find a 3,4 or even 5 letter dot com domain you can still find or invent a catchy domain name with few letters.
Make it easy to say and easy to understand. It's all very well being clever and creating a domain that is a play on words but if it is too clever you could be saving up trouble for yourself. Domain names that are complicated of sound like other words can be difficult to pronounce let alone type in correctly.
Avoid plural versions of names if the non plural is taken. Better still use a domain name the does not have a plural version.If you register the non plural version make sure the plural version is available.
Get a dot com if you can. This is the best known extension and most easily remembered. If you type in a domain name into your browser without the extension it will assume it is a dot com and try to find that site.

I got this error in my laptop. Whenever I on my laptop after few mintues I get the error as mentioned below.

As usual I googled for a solution to settle this problem. Few sites gave me few suggestions to solve this problem. But none worked out for me. But most of the sites gave an idea that this error is due to either hard disk problem or memory problem. So first I ran the chkdsk by booting the laptop using Windows XP cd and went to repair mode.

The report shows no error in the hard disk. Now I want to check the memory of my laptop. So I download the software named Memtest86 An advanced Memory Diagnostic tool. I download the Prebuit ISO format and made a bootable CD using the Nero Burn software. I used the CD to boot my PC and run the memory diagnostic test to run whole day and check all the memory blocks. Finally my problem is settled and now my laptop is working fine.

Welcome to the real world! Your system has been partially taken over by insidious adware programs written by hackers with malicious intentions.

(1) Disconnect the computer from internet. Pull out the cable to the wall or disable the ethernet/modem device.

(2) Use a professional adware/virus/worm/trojan removal tool and clean up the system. If you want to use online tools to remove them, then don't disconnect from internet. You may use reputed services such as "symantec" or "trendmicro" tools and detect/remove the nasty stuff through online assistance. These companies offer free services to remove them for home users.

(3) Once you remove them, go to internet-explorer options, security and disable a whole lot of features:
-disable scripting. This will turnoff javascripting and prevent crooks from repeating it. You can add selected sites to "trusted sites" and allow scripting there.

-disable java, disable applets, disable activeX altogether, disable software permissions, increase safety level etc. Occasionally you may get warning notices while browsing internet "you have disabled activeX!" but that nuisance is a small price for security.

You should always be able to go to Task Manager using CTRL-ALT-DELETE. If this is also disabled, then you may have to reboot in safe-mode and start cleaning.

Also, change all your passwords that you have set in internet sites, since some worms would have screen-captured your keyboard and forwarded them to some other website for storage.

I would like to personally meet those crooks who write such software and break their fingers one by one. I am pissed off! They have wasted so many days of my life.

HiddenFaxWindow seems to be from the Fax service. Disable the Fax service, if you have no need of it. Or uninstall Fax Services.

You can try to detect the Hard Disk in the BIOS setup. Each motherboard have its own option to go in to BIOS setup.

Faded question mark in Quicktime Logo in Firefox and IE 7.0

After updating the Adobe Flash Player, Shock wave Player and Apple Quick Time Player to latest version I got this problem. Whenever I visit the trailer website I am getting a faded question mark in Quicktime Logo in the browser. When checked with Apple Quicktime support team, they asked me to re-install my player to stand alone player. I did that also still cannot able to solve the problem.

How to solve this problem?

As usual I googled for the solution I cant find it. Then went to search in Yahoo and got the solution for it. To fix it in firefox find out the file name NPSWF32.dll.

Normally it will in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll. Copy this file and paste it in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins folder. Now it will work in Firefox. Copy the same file in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\plugins folder. This one will solve the problem.

In our office we are using ACCPAC Accounting software, which is developed in Visual Basic and back end is Pervasive SQL. Suddenly yesterday when I click the ACCPAC Program shortcut it displays the error

I didnt do any changes in my PC but still got this error. Then finally I discovered that autoexec.bat is missing in my PC since I am using windows 98 as OS. I copied the Autoexec from another PC and restarted my PC. Thats it. My ACCPAC is working.

What content is there in AUTOEXEC.BAT file?

Minimized Windows Don't Appear on Taskbar

This problem persisits yesterday to me. I tried to minimize my programs, the program icon doesn't appear on the taskbar. When I click CTR+ALT+DEL I can see the program running. As usual I googled and got this solution. I hope it will be helpful to you also.

Open 'Control Panel' and select 'Add/Remove Programs'.

Check for the program entries of WinSrvReg and Friend Greetings.

If found, uninstall the program and reboot.

OutLook Express Error No 0x800C0131

I was using outlook express for more than 10 years. Currently I encountered a problem showing the error number 0x800C0131 when I try to send email using my SMTP.
Unknown error has occurred. Protocol: SMTP Port: 0 Secure: No [SSL] Error: 0x800c0131

I searched and found that the usual cause of this error is a missing or damaged folders.dbx file. Either that or it is using a read only attribute. To fix this problem I did the following steps.

Click Start
then Find
then click Files or Folders.
In the Named box, type folders.dbx.
In the Look In box, click your main hard disk (this is usually drive C), and then click Find Now.
Right-click the Folders.dbx file, and then click Rename.
Type folders.old, and click OK.
Start Outlook Express again. This creates a new Folders.dbx file automatically.

This one solved my problem. Mainly this one occurs in the Windows 98 OS.

Recently, In our company website We had a tremendous amount of database grow. Due this huge growth of the database we encountered timeouts error on the website.

This is the error that we continually received:

I searched in google search engine as well as in yahoo. I found alot of ideas to fix this error. Few suggested to increase the script timeout setting in IIS. But we hosted our website in shared server. So I dropped this idea and tried to find out is there any other soluton for this error.

Then I changed my strategy to search for solutions what I can do in ASP coding. Atlast I found out the solution for this error. I found out that there were two specific settings that would affect an ADO script timeout. Using the Connection Object for ADO, I saw Command Timeout and Connection Timeout. I manipulated my code to look like this:

The line AConn.CommandTimeout = 0 sets the CommandTimeout strictly for ADO. Setting it to 180 would be three minutes. Setting it to 0 tells it to work to infinity.

I then created my recordset object:

How to change Pirated Windows XP to Legal one

For example, You bought a second hand computer from a retailer who used Volume License Key(VLK) to that computer which is not legal to use. Since the computer he sells is cheaped, you intend to buy the computer. Once you bought the computer you plan to buy a genuine windows xp and dont want to reinstall in that PC. Just you want to reactivate the windows xp with the original key. Here is the steps how to do it.

Determining if you have a valid product ID

Hopefully you already know if you're dealing with a pirated copy of XP. But if you're unsure, a quick way to tell is to install Service Pack 1. Shortly after releasing Windows XP, Microsoft realized that most pirated XP installations were using two specific VLKs, the most popular of which begins with "FCKGW.” These VLKs produce product IDs that match either XXXXX-640-0000356-23XXX or XXXXX-640-2001765-23XXX, where X is any number.

If you try to install SP1 and get the following error message:

The Product Key used to install Windows is invalid. Please contact your system administrator or retailer immediately to obtain a valid Product Key…"

You can also directly check the OS’sproduct ID by right-clicking on My Computer, clicking Properties, and selecting the General tab. The machine's product ID will be located under the Registered To section. If the ID matches either of the two models commonly associated with VLK fraud, you’ll need to obtain a valid XP product key before proceeding. None of the procedures described below will work without a legitimate product key.

Two methods of changing Windows XP's product key

First method is editing the registry manually.

Begin by opening the Registry Editor and navigating to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents

In the right pane, right-click the ODBETimer binary value and select Modify. Change at least one character of this value to either a number from 0 to 9 or to a letter from A to F, then click OK and close the Registry Editor. This renders the current product key invalid and deactivates Windows.

Now, it’s time to reactivate Windows using your new product key.

Click Start -> Run and enter the command:

At this point, Windows will launch the Product Activation Wizard.

If you have XP Home or Professional, you’ll be prompted to reactivate your copy of Windows through the normal activation process. If you have XP Corporate, no activation is required and your machine should have a valid product ID. You can verify this by running the %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a command again. When the wizard loads this time, you should see a message indicating that your copy of Windows has already been activated.

Using a WMI script

Although the registry editing process is effective, it can be tedious and impractical if you need to change the product key on more than a few machines. So Microsoft provides two WMI scripts, one for XP machines with SP1 and one for XP machines without SP1.

View the code for the WMI script, ChangeVLKey2600.vbs, designed for use on XP machines without SP1.

View the code for the WMI script, ChangeVLKeySP1.vbs, for XP machines with SP1 already installed.

Copy the appropriate script's code into a text file and save it as either ChangeVLKey2600.vbs or ChangeVLKeySP1.vbs. The scripts can act in conjunction with a valid product key as part of a login script to change the product ID on multiple machines. You can also execute the script from the command line to change the key on a single computer.

For example, if you wanted to change the product key on an XP machine without SP1 and had already saved the script to root directory on the C: drive, you would click Start Run and enter the following command:

C:\changevlkey2600.vbs xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

Of course, xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx in this scenario is a valid product key.

The script should take only a few seconds to run and won't prompt you for further action unless there's a problem, such as an invalid product key. As with the registry editing method, you can verify that Windows is now using a valid product key by running the command:

The Product Activation Wizard will load and should tell you that your copy of Windows has already been activated.

Today it happend to me. Suddenly my computer shows black screen with a message box saying lsass.exe - System error.

and a OK button. Once I click OK the computer restarts and it works as normal.

1. Place your Windows XP CD in your cd-rom and start your computer (it’s assumed here that your XP CD is bootable – as it should be - and that you have your bios set to boot from CD)

2. Keep your eye on the screen messages for booting to your cd Typically, it will be “Press any key to boot from cd”

3. Once you get in, the first screen will indicate that Setup is inspecting your system and loading files.

4. When you get to the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to Setup Windows now.

5. The Licensing Agreement comes next - Press F8 to accept it.

6. The next screen is the Setup screen which gives you the option to do a Repair.It should read something like “If one of the following Windows XP installations is damaged, Setup can try to repair it”Use the up and down arrow keys to select your XP installation (if you only have one, it should already be selected) and press R to begin the Repair process.

7. Let the Repair run. Setup will now check your disks and then start copying files which can take several minutes.

8. Shortly after the Copying Files stage, you will be required to reboot. (this will happen automatically – you will see a progress bar stating “Your computer will reboot in 15 seconds”

9. During the reboot, do not make the mistake of “pressing any key” to boot from the CD again! Setup will resume automatically with the standard billboard screens and you will notice Installing Windows is highlighted.

10. Keep your eye on the lower left hand side of the screen and when you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10. This is the security hole! A command console will now open up giving you the potential for wide access to your system.

11. At the prompt, type NUSRMGR.CPL and press Enter. Voila! You have just gained graphical access to your User Accounts in the Control Panel.

12. Now simply pick the account you need to change and remove or change your password as you prefer. If you want to log on without having to enter your new password, you can type control userpasswords2 at the prompt and choose to log on without being asked for password. After you’ve made your changes close the windows, exit the command box and continue on with the Repair (have your Product key handy).

13. Once the Repair is done, you will be able to log on with your new password (or without a password if you chose not to use one or if you chose not to be asked for a password). Your programs and personalized settings should remain intact.

How to Fix Problems with Content Advisor Missing Information

In most cases, this problem occurs when the Ratings.pol file is damaged, follow the instructions below to fix this issue.
1) Quit Internet Explorer
2) Open My Computer, click on Tools, Folder Options
3) Click on the View tab and make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, you may also want to uncheck the box next to "Hide extensions for known file types" and click Ok
4) Double click on Drive C in My Computer
5) Double click on the Windows folder and then double click on the System folder
6) Search for the file RATINGS.POL and right click on it and choose Rename. Rename it to RATINGS.OLD
7) Close out of the open Windows and then reopen Internet Explorer
8) Click on Tools, Internet Options
9) Click on the Content tab, then click on Settings
10) Type in the Supervisor password if necessary and click Ok
11) Select the Ratings options you would like and click Ok and close out of Internet Explorer
12) When you reopen Internet Explorer, everything should work.

The following steps will remove any password set in the Internet Explorer Content Advisor and allow you to reset the program to its original state.
1) Click on Start and choose Run.

2) Type in RegEdit and select OK.

3) Now click on the little plus sign to the left of H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

4) Continue to drill down, always clicking on the plus sign at the left of the named key, through Software, Microsoft, Windows, Current Version and Policies.

5) Now click on the Ratings folder.

6) In the right pane of the RegEdit window, you'll see an icon called Key. Click on it and press Delete.

7) Next, choose Registry and then Exit to exit RegEdit. You've just deleted your original Content Advisor password.

8) Restart the computer and run Internet Explorer again.

9) Choose View and then Internet Options (or Options for version 3.x). For IE 5 or greater, Click on Tools, Internet Options.

10) Click on the Content tab and click on Disable. When asked for a password, don't enter anything; just click on OK. This will disable Content Advisor because there's no longer a password.

Being rather proud of AdWords as a means to effectively advertise one's products or services, it seems natural to use it ourselves. Since it's a common practice across the industry for companies to promote their own products and services through their own web presence, there is much precedent to do this.

It's important to note, however, that our ads are created and managed under the exact same guidelines, principles, practices and algorithms as the ads of any other advertiser. Likewise, we use the very same tools and account interface.

As does any advertiser, we aim to give our campaigns a budget which is in line with their value to us in terms of the increased traffic we might see. I just found out that should you ever be forced to withdraw monies from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse. The machine will still give you the monies you requested, but unkown to the robber, etc, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

Normally when we want to close a particular task to close we press CTRL+ALT+DEL key to view the Windows Task Manager and close it. Sometimes we get error and wont allow you to close it. Here is a small utility which is available for free to close the program named Command Line Process Viewer/Killer/Suspender. This is a small command line utility to view, kill, suspend or set the priority and affinity of processes. Is a virus disabled your Task Manager? . . or perhaps your Administrator has?
The Command Line Process Utility will function even when the task manager is disabled and/or the dreaded "Task Manager has been disabled by your Administrator" dialog box appears.
Works on remote machines with the Microsoft Telnet Server (tlntsvr) found on Windows 2000 and XP or with BeyondExec for Windows NT4/2000/XP.
This utility really helps a lot for me personally. So I am suggesting this tool for everyone.

When Windows XP detects a problem from which it cannot recover, it displays Stop messages. These are text-mode error messages that report information about the condition.
Stop messages, sometimes referred to as blue screens (BSoD), contain specific information that can help you diagnose and possibly resolve the problem detected by the Windows kernel.

Stop 0x0000000A or IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
The Stop 0xA message indicates that a kernel-mode process or driver attempted to access a memory location to which it did not have permission, or at a kernel interrupt request level (IRQL) that was too high. A kernel-mode process can access only other processes that have an IRQL lower than, or equal to, its own. This Stop message is typically due to faulty or incompatible hardware or software.
Possible Resolutions:
A Stop 0xA message might occur after installing a faulty device driver, system service, or firmware. If a Stop message lists a driver by name, disable, remove, or roll back the driver to correct the problem. If disabling or removing drivers resolves the issues, contact the manufacturer about a possible update. Using updated software is especially important for multimedia apllications, antivirus scanners, and CD mastering tools.
A Stop 0xA message might also be due to failing or defective hardware. If a Stop message points to a category of devices (video or disk adapters, for example), try removing or replacing the hardware to determine if it is causing the problem.
If you encounter a Stop 0xA message while upgrading to Windows XPl, the problem might be due to an incompatible driver, system service, virus scanner, or backup. To avoid problems while upgrading, simplify your hardware configuration and remove all third-party device drivers and system services (including virus scanners) prior to running setup. After you have successfully installed Windows XP, contact the hardware manufacturer to obtain compatible updates.
