Most of webmasters after getting google adsense account dono how to implement their ads i.e. in nice way to get more CTR. In my experience I came across few websites which have a nice placements of ads.

This site looks like MFA site. Nothing much in this website. But the placement of adsense is nice to see. - Capital tutorials
This site a tutotial site providing tutorial for photoshop. This site is using yahoo publisher for their ads. But you can get a clear idea how to use the images in the ad. - Financial Freedom Awaits
This is also a MFA site which is created for top paying google adsense keywords. Placement of ads is superb. - oxs-e

I hope now you have some ideas how to place your ads. If you afraid that google may ban your adsense account for placing images next to ads in you website. You can ask a adsense team by sending email to adsense-support@google.com and they will view your site and reply to you. Dont afraid they wont ban your website.

I am the webmaster/owner for VisitScotlandaccommodation.co.uk. I am glad you approve of the placements of the ads. It produces very good results as does www.visitdevonandcornwall.com.
Just some feedback for you all. I used to run the titles in the same colour as the main text, but changing them to red has increased CTR!
